Pick the Camera That Fits the Job

The glove records your hand. The camera records what you see. Add one to your kit or use your own. Our value estimate is for glove plus stereo video, so stereo is the strongest option.

Three first-person cameras on a workbench: a stereo camera on a hard hat, an action camera on a head strap and a smartphone in a head mount

What we record with

OAK-D Pro W

A depth camera built for robotics, in a 91 g bar that fixes to a hard-hat brim. Also sold as the narrower-view OAK-D Pro.

  • True stereo: two global-shutter cameras, 7.5 cm apart
  • Wide view: 120° color and 150° stereo
  • Onboard IMU and IR dot projector

Rugged and easy to mount

GoPro

A tough wide-angle action camera with strong stabilization and plenty of hard-hat and head-strap mounts.

  • HERO13 Black records up to 5.3K at 60 fps
  • Built for dust, knocks and rough work
  • Single lens, so no stereo

Already in your pocket

iPhone

You may already own the camera. A head or chest mount turns it into a first-person recorder.

  • iPhone 17 Pro records 1080p spatial video at 30 fps
  • LiDAR scanner on Pro models
  • No extra camera to buy

Why stereo matters

Two synchronized views let a model recover depth, which is how robots judge the distance to a wire, a screw or a tool. That's why our $120–150 per hour estimate is for glove plus stereo video. Single-lens footage may be worth less.
